Bada Bing Obama

This past weekend was the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner which was held on Saturday, May 1st, 2010 at the Washington Hilton Hotel. The Correspondents’ Dinner first began on February 25, 1914 with it continuing annually for almost a century thus far.

This years’ dinner was a hit for several reasons. The primary being that for the first time in 96 years the dinner was geared as an eco-friendly event. The White House Correspondents’ Association made sure that they would reduce the carbon impact of the event. Their actions included renewable energies for the event, with paper products, supplies and services. They also attempted to encourage those attending to show up in either hybrid cars or even car-pooling.

The second reason which made the dinner such a hit was the discovery that President Obama could be quite the comedian. Although Jay Leno was the suppose to be the host and comedic attraction of the night it seemed that President Obama had more than a few tricks up his sleeve.

I think that after his speech Leno might be contemplating hiring better writers for his material after Saturday night's response to his performance.

I specifically titled this article Bada Bing Obama because the President had the audience entertained and laughing throughout his entire speech. He took some really good swings at some specifics such as, Jay Leno, Jersey Shore, Eric Massa, and Politico. For a person who has certainly made great strides within his two years in office, President Obama showed that he isn’t all work and no play. He absolutely has a sense of humor even going as far as quoting Biden’s coercion for his attendance. Obama states Biden had come to him saying
“Mr. President this is no ordinary dinner. This is a big *beep*ing meal!”
Following President Obama, who apparently did not have a dry seat in the house, was Mr. Jay Leno! It was apparent that following Obama did not work out too well in Lenos favor. For any that watched the dinner Leno had to pull teeth to get some chuckles and even those were not in comparison to the Presidents'. We blatently saw Leno struggling to get some good laughs out of the audience. He himself even mentions during his speech that it was a tough crowd!

Overall the Correspondents’ Dinner was a success and lots of stars made sure that they didn’t miss it.

A portion of the stars that attended the event are Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber, Jessica Simpson, The Jonas Brothers, Bradley Cooper, Scarlett Johansson, Cash Warren, Jessica Alba, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, Queen Latifah, Steven Spielberg, Michelle Pfeiffer and the list goes on.

The dinner was certainly a hit this year for all who attended. If anyone didn’t have a chance to watch it, the video is online at the White House Correspondents’ Association Website (WHCA) and here is the direct link where you can find the video: http://www.whca.net/dinner.htm

Thank you all for reading until next time…
